Select an issue that's important in America today, and choose an interest group that has taken on that issue. What tactics and methods do they use to influence the Congress and the president?

A know issue going on right now is the massive need for change when it comes to race. The huge "Black Lives Matter" movement is something that is taking the nation by storm right now. We are seeing regular civilians, celebrities, and even our political leaders involved in this movement now.

Early on, it seemed to be merely civilian driven, but now as the movement is gaining momentum, different people are coming out to show support. It is not only black people out here either. All races pf people are out here fighting for equality for this race of people. There have been rallies and organized protests to get Congress and the Government to get some control of this unfairness that is being seen by all. Organizations like the NAACP and The Black Panther Party are meeting still trying to come up with other says to make more solid lasting change for African American people. Some police departments have even started to retrain some of their officers to become part of the solution as well. Celebrities like Al Sharpton are known to be heavily apart of the movement as well.
We are now beginning to get leaders to address policies in relation to African American people. This movement is only at its beginning stages, and its going to be a tough road to travel. But it is a much needed road to be traveled. As the inequalities were very apparent, and needs to be addressed.

One very important issue today is gun control. The National Rifle Association has long been an advocate for allowing Americans as much freedom to own firearms as possible. They have a very active social media network on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and they use this to mobilize their base to influence Congress to pass laws to protect the rights of gun owners. They also have their own YouTube channel with which they influence public opinion.
The National Rifle Association is especially vocal after mass shootings or other tragedies around the world. The organization gives freely to politicians who promise to maintain gun owners' rights and they run attack ads during elections against those who would pass restrictions on gun owners. The National Rifle Association's conventions are quite popular and in the past have featured prominent actors such as Charlton Hesston as spokespeople. The organization also uses fear tactics by claiming that anyone who wants to restrict gun ownership also wants to upend the Constitution and take away all guns. By using this kind of rhetoric, the organization is better able to mobilize its membership to put pressure on Congress and the president to not put any restrictions on gun ownership. The organization also claims to be patriotic as they protect the Second Amendment.
