Gravity is the force of attraction between any two objects having mass. Between any two objects having certain mass have force of attraction between them known as gravitational force. Every object in this universe including us is attracting every other object in the entire universe.
Mathematically, gravitational force is directly proportional to the masses of the objects and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. If the mass of the object is more, more will be the attraction. That is why, earth attracts us while we jump and also attracts other bodies in space. And that is why we are not attracting other objects because our mass is very less. Also if the distance between two objects is more, the attractive force becomes weaker.
Because of gravitation, we are seeing the universe as it is now. Because of gravitation, we are revolving around in specific orbit in solar system and all other planets revolve on specific orbit due to this force.
Also it is interesting to note that gravitational force is the weakest force in the entire universe.
Gravity can be considered as the force of attraction that exists between any two bodies. This is the same force that causes an apple to fall to the ground from a tree, and the force that causes a football to come back to the ground after it has been kicked by a player. The force of gravity keeps us on the Earth's surface and ensures that we come back to it even if we jump up in the air.
This force of attraction between any bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Thus, the greater the separation between two bodies, the lesser the gravitational pull. This is the reason we do not feel the pull of the Sun or any other star on us (due to their great distance from us).
Gravity was formulated by Sir Isaac Newton.
Hope this helps.
