Beginning Algebra With Applications, Chapter 5, 5.2, Section 5.2, Problem 110

Graph 4x+3y=12 by using x- and y-intercepts

x-intercept:

4x+3y=12Given equation4x+3(0)=12To find the x-intercept, let y=04x=12Divide by 4x=3

The x-intercept is (3,0)

y-intercept:

4x+3y=12Given equation4(0)+3y=12To find the y-intercept, let x=03y=12Divide by 3y=4

The y-intercept is (0,4)

Graph the ordered pairs (3,0) and (0,4). Draw a straight line through the points.
