Beginning Algebra With Applications, Chapter 5, 5.4, Section 5.4, Problem 58

Determine the equation of the line through the points whose coordinates are (2,1) and (5,1).

Using the Slope Formula with (x1,y1)=(2,1) and (x2,y2)=(5,1)

m=1(1)52=03=0

The slope of the line is 0.

Using the point slope formula with m=0 and (x1,y1)=(2,1)

yy1=m(xx1)y(1)=0(x2)Substitute m=0,(x1,y1)=(2,1)y+1=0Apply Distributive Propertyy=1Write the slope-intercept form
