How do the children feel as they travel down the center of the long corridor?

In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg and Calvin feel fearful and anxious as they walk down the long corridor with Charles Wallace, who feels nothing because he has been brainwashed by IT. Meg and Calvin are also concerned with finding a way of breaking Charles Wallace free from the grip IT has on his mind. When Meg realizes that Calvin's talent for communication could help dissolve IT's hold on Charles Wallace, the two become hopeful. This sense of possibility takes their minds off their fear. At the end of the corridor, they find Meg and Charles Wallace's father encased in a column. Meg then becomes absorbed in trying to get through the column in order to reach her father, while Calvin continues to try to contact the real Charles Wallace.
