Compare Oedipus Rex with Euripides' Oedipus.

In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus is born an orphan of unknown parentage. As a young adult, he grows to wonder about his parentage. He visits an oracle who tells him that he will kill his father and marry his mother. Oedipus ends up fulfilling the prophecy. When he discovers what he's done, he blinds himself. His mother, Jocasta, ends up killing herself. Oedipus Rex was written by Sophocles.
Euripides wrote about Oedipus as well. His version of the play is known as Euripides' Oedipus, or sometimes simply Euripides. In this version, Oedipus doesn't blind himself. Instead, a servant of the court blinds him. It is later revealed that the servant who blinded Oedipus worked as the personal servant of Oedipus's father, Laius. Another important difference is the fate of Oedipus's mother. In Euripides's version, Jocasta does not kill herself but runs away with her son Oedipus to seek refuge in another land.
