Religions have attempted to explain our existence over the years in many different ways. the main questions that religions have focused on are such as;
1. Where did we come from?
2. Why are here?
3. Where are we going?
The question on where we came from is the main one that religions all over the world have attempted to answer. Many religions claim that there is an intelligent design who is responsible for our existence. The intelligent design is connoted with different names , but the most common name for the creator of the universe that everyone can relate with is "God." Most religions teach us that we are here to experience ourselves physically since we are an aspect of divinity (extension of the creator), we are here to do his will and that when we die, we will all either be reunited with God or separated from God if we disobey his commandments and entertain sin.
Certainly not all religions teach the same thing. If they did, then the world would have a single religious point of view. I would probably say that most religions attempt to answer three things about human existence; however, the answers to those questions are as diverse as the people that ask those questions, so there is no definitive answer to the questions. The first question is, How did we get here? Most religions have some kind of creation account that explains how the world and/or universe came to be or was created. That creation account also tends to explain how humans were made a part of that creation. A second question is generally about what happens after death. It could be heaven, hell, reincarnation, an alternate universe, or something else. The final question is about what a person's responsibility is while alive. Is man's chief end to glorify an all-powerful God, or is it to do good works in order to earn a particular place in the afterlife? Some religions even teach that there is no afterlife, so man's ultimate responsibility is to live a good life on earth. These three questions could be paraphrased as follows:
Where did we come from?
Where are we going?
How do we get there?
