There were various factors that might have motivated English settlers to move to Pennsylvania. One factor is that there was religious freedom in Pennsylvania. There were many different religious groups that lived in Pennsylvania. These included the Quakers, Mennonites, Amish, Jews, and Lutherans. People could come to Pennsylvania and practice whatever religion they wanted to practice.
Another reason why people would be attracted to Pennsylvania is that the soil was fertile. The soil was much better in Pennsylvania than it was in New England. The climate was also somewhat warmer and milder than in New England. Farmers could grow grain, such as wheat, and make a good deal of money from growing that crop.
There also was some manufacturing in Pennsylvania. There were various resources, such as iron ore and coal, which made it possible for manufacturing to occur. Thus, people were able to get jobs either in farming or in manufacturing in Pennsylvania.
