argumentative essay on: Jail sentence should be given for having an Abortion. Sub Topic: Abortion is Committing Murder in the first Degree

It would be very difficult to rationalize the claim that abortion is murder or that it should be punishable by jail sentences. Those who are advocates of the "pro-life" position suggest a fetus is a human person with rights and should be allowed to live. Moreover, they argue that to abort a fetus is morally equivalent to murder. One might rightly point out, however, as an argument challenging this "pro-life" view, that most humans do not live inside another human person and depend on that connection for survival.
While the moral comparison of abortion and murder is still up for debate, this certainly is not the case legally, and most countries in the West have made abortion legal. Even in countries where it is not generally legal, it can allowed in the case of other factors. There are very few countries in the world that consider abortion completely illegal. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends safe and legal abortions for all women.
One has to take a very dogmatic moral stance about the sanctity of human life and the idea that it begins at conception to even begin making an argument about the legitimacy of jail sentences. Some people take this view, but they are not lawmakers.
