Graph 3x+y=5 by using x- and y-intercepts

x-intercept:


3x+y=5Given equation3x+0=5To find the x-intercept, let y=03x=5Divide by 3x=53


The x-intercept is (53,0)

y-intercept:


3x+y=5Given equation3(0)+y=5To find the y-intercept, let x=0y=5



The y-intercept is (0,5)

Graph the ordered pairs (53,0) and (0,5). Draw a straight line through the points.
