Describe the event between Mr.Henry and Frieda and her parents

Claudia returns home one spring day to discover her sister Freida crying alone. After some prodding, Freida says through broken sobs that Mr. Henry “picked at [her].” This is Freida’s childlike way of saying that Mr. Henry touched her inappropriately.
Curiously, Claudia asks the so-called “wrong” questions, like how it felt and what Freida said in response. This shows Claudia’s fundamental misunderstanding of how sexual assault or molestation would make someone feel, particularly when the victim is a child.
Freida explains how she immediately ran out to the garden across the tracks where their mother and father are weeding. Their father throws a tricycle at Mr. Henry’s head, after which he starts singing a gospel tune. Enraged, their mother hits him with a broom for having the Lord’s name in his mouth. After their father shoots at Mr. Henry as he runs away, Freida hits Rosemary “real hard” for meddling.
Claudia keeps asking Freida why she is crying, because to her all of the drama sounds exciting. Freida then reveals what Ms. Dunion said about the possibility that Freida might be “ruined.” From an adult perspective, the reader understands this to mean that Mr. Henry might have raped Freida. However, Freida and Claudia are unsure of what this means other than getting fat. Therefore, Freida is truly upset at the thought that what Mr. Henry did might make her ugly.

Mr. Henry resided at the MacTeer’s residence even though he was not related to them. During that particular event, he made inappropriate sexual advances towards Frieda and touched her breasts. Frieda ran out and reported to her parents who were infuriated and returned home to wait for Mr. Henry. Upon arrival, Frieda’s father violently attacked Mr. Henry, throwing a tricycle at him that forced him off the porch. Frieda’s mother then hit him with a broom. Meanwhile, Mr. Buford, a neighbor to the MacTeers, dashed to his place and returned with a gun. Mr. MacTeer took hold of it and fired at Mr. Henry who then took off. After Mr. Henry fled, Rosemary emerged from her house and cautioned Frieda that her father would be jailed for shooting at Mr. Henry. The confrontation agitated Frieda who in return hit Rosemary.
