The modern conflicts that exist between science and faith are many. For example, as researchers unravel the genome, we are coming to understand the roots of many diseases and genetic conditions. These conditions and diseases have scientific roots and challenge the idea that they are decreed by God. In addition, discoveries related to genetics support the idea of evolution rather than creationism (or the idea that God created the universe and its creatures). This is also a challenge to people's faith.
It's a matter of opinion about whether these challenges to faith are stronger than the challenges to faith presented during the Scientific Revolution. Certainly, people living during the Scientific Revolution felt that their faith had been challenged, just as today; people now also feel that scientific discoveries challenge their faith. Perhaps the challenges to one's faith are even stronger today, as science and technology are increasingly important in our world.
